Reply:Exactly what is says!Ask the seller why it is left out, or if it happens to be a machine that was made for flux core (which doesn't require gas, and therefore doesn't require a regulator).Maybe the seller upgraded to a flow meter and wanted to keep it when selling off the machine. There are a number of possibilities.I am also assuming the 140 welder is a wire feed welder since you didn't specify any other details. There are many types of welders and 140 is not one of them, but is a common size for a small MIG welder.Do you understand what is required for MIG or flux core welding, or do you have any welding experience, or is this going to be your first machine. Details in your post will get you better answers.Miller 330abpMiller 211 inverter, M150 spool gunMiller 135Miller 375 Extreme plasmaCNC plasma table (build in progress)Femi 120abs portable band sawMany other toolsToo little garage spaceNot enough money
Reply:It means you buy one here.http://www.usaweld.com/Welding-Flowmeter-p/12020-f.htmBest deal on the net.IMHO of courseExpert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:Might be that even if the original unit came with a flow gauge shielding gas regulator, it got bumped or dropped and is not worth fixing. Mt Lincoln SP-175+ didn't have a great regulator and a gauge got busted.  Got a couple flow meters for that and the TIG rig."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:I don't know about the 140, but some hardware store 120V welders came without a gas kit, not even a solenoid, so it was flux core only.
Reply:I am shopping for 110V TIG welders like Hobart 140, Miller/Lincoln, etc. These are wire fed and gas optional, right?I want the gas, as I hear it's a lot easier.
Reply:You mean MIG not TIG correct? The little 110v MIGs can be flux core only (no gas option at all) or flux core with gas shielded option. Depends on the model.
Reply:Definitely get one that will run with gas. It is a bit easier, but also less splatter and work after the weld or before additional passes. 75/25 argon/co2 leaves a great looking weld. Straight co2 may burn a bit hotter, but it leaves more splatter, although the straight co2 is less expensive.Miller 330abpMiller 211 inverter, M150 spool gunMiller 135Miller 375 Extreme plasmaCNC plasma table (build in progress)Femi 120abs portable band sawMany other toolsToo little garage spaceNot enough money
