Hand amperage control box question

I just recieved my hand remote box from SSC Controls. It is very nice and it showed up exactly when they said it would. Bought it for two reasons,-Watching Fieldres & other pipeline videos (Hoping that magic box will make me a better pipe welder)-Figured it would be nice to have a remote outside vs running in the garage every time I want to change the setting when running stick or the suitcase.I wanted to check it out without welding anything so hooked it up to the XMT and switched from panel to remote. When in an electrode hot position, turning the dial on the box does nothing to the output amps or volts on vs feeder setting. The knob on the welder still functions. When I switch it to a non electrode hot position the knob on the box adjusts the amperage or voltage depending on the process. Shouldn't the output change when the dial is turned on the electrode hot mode? With my foot pedal on lift arc tig, I set the max amps and stepping on it does nothing on the readout until an arc is lit. Is this how the hand control works?When the on/off on the remote switch is in the off position the welder is quiet. When you turn it on there is a humming sound. Reply:My XMT and its manual are 1100 miles away, but I think that is the difference between "Stick" mode and "CC" mode. In Stick it's panel control only; CC mode is for stick with an external remote.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps

I think I will like being able to change settings away from the machine.I guess with the remote for stick I need to run it in cc remote non electrode hot.When I have the 12vs connected, could I run it in mig mode and use the remote to adjust voltage?
