Helpin out a weld shop right up the road from me, hopin it turns into a permanent thing. Doin a lot more fab work then what I'm used to but I like it Here's a set of stair stringers I'm working on now. Once I'm done welding them up in the AM think he said he was gonna take them out to Bristol Va/Tennessee to have them galvanized. I didn't do any of the lay out work was just shown where to cut and drill. For the treads there getting precast concrete. Feel like these things are gonna be fun to set, hopefully I get to stick around and help with it so there will be more pics to comes. 93 Bobcat 225GMillerMatic 135HF Tig 91811
Reply:Where in Bristol do you get the coating done? I hope the job works out for you. Rob
Reply:I have no idea where he is taking them, This is only my second week helping him out. He said he was gonna keep me as busy as he could for as long as his bank account would allow. The name of his shop is Elite Iron Works, it's only him and another guy and me now.93 Bobcat 225GMillerMatic 135HF Tig 91811
Reply:Looking good. Is that a Bux magnetic drill base and a big old Black and Decker drill you are drilling the holes with? We have one similar that we got at a sale and I can barely lift the joker. It is about 3 feet tall I think.
Reply:That is some hefty iron for stairs what is the dimensions ?I under stand the precast steps, so they are what a buck fifty each, looking at a ton static load . Handled a lot of precast in my misspent youth
Reply:Anthony83It appears you are using twist drills;what are you using for coolant/lube?And, how much oversize are the holesto allow for hot-dip?Opus
Reply:Can't remember the name of the drill right off, the holes are 9/16" that's what the plans call for. I wanna say they are 10" channel, I really haven't had to measure them but I will when I get back up there. Gotta finish welding in the mounting brackets. I'm liking doin the fab work, sure beats bein a production welder.93 Bobcat 225GMillerMatic 135HF Tig 91811
