My welder is 7 years old, I took the cover off it to clean it out and then put it back together. Now when I press the trigger only the gas works. No weld, and wire motor is not working. I could really use some help on this one.  Thanks!
Reply:Did you disconnect the two leads going from the trigger to the machine?  They are right above the wire feed motor.  They are the two small wires with the blue taps above the wire feeder & below the white tag. Reply:No I did not disconnect those wires, I took the red top cover off. And then I took it off again today to check the wires again and all the wires were on. When I turn the welder on the fan motor works and then when I pull the trigger the gas works, but no wire feed motor and no arc. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this because I use the welder a lot. Thanks for the reply, and do you have any other ideas regarding this? (anybody)   THANKS!
Reply:When I pulled the cover off my new toy, the wires to the circuit board attached to the panel were stretched awful tight.  If you didn't unplug any of the wires, there may be some corrosion there that is blocking the connection.Maybe take the cover back off, unplug one wire/connector at a time and clean the contact points.  A bit of dielectric grease may help keep any corrosion off.I'm suspecting if you didn't do anything else or didn't unplug any wires, there is a bad connection. Here's a couple pics of mine (very dirty) with the circuit board. They are Inside 1-4 and the Circuit board. Reply:Check the plugs to the PCB, unplug them, re-plug them, the wires terminated to the plugsWhere the fan is check the auxillary transformer supply which is part of the fan motorRotate switch make sure it is in the detent positionCheers Billy
Reply:Did you check to make sure the trigger is good and/or still making contact inside the gun. Check continuity between the two trigger points while pulling the trigger down. A lot of times that is the simpilist problem that goes wrong with these machines.
Reply:It's not a trigger related problem.  He said the gas works.  That is operated by the trigger.  I would listen for the contactor clicking when the trigger is pulled.  If the contactor clicks then you have dirty contacts or corroded wires between the contactor and the gun.  If it doesn't click, then check for power at the wires that trigger the contact when you pull the trigger on the gun.  If no power, send it in.  Odds are its the board.  But that's just my opinion.
