Just got a millermatic 211 with a spool gun and no mig gun, to weld aluminum so that's mostly ok.I have a hobart handler 125 I use for light steel. But it would probably be nice to use the 211 for heavier steel. Is there a better alternative to the m10 or inexpensive. Or could I pull the gun out of the hobart? Thanks.
Reply:I'm unsure what sort of back end connection Hobart uses for their mig guns, but if it is the same as the Miller connection you can go with it. Another alternative would be a Bernard gun with a Miller back end connection (they also make other brand back ends, so watch the description) off eBay. The link below is for a dealer that always has several of the Bernard guns up for auction...usually end at around $100.http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Bernard-...item19eec643fdLincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.
Reply:M-25 gun or a Bernard Q. you can get the bernard on ebay for a hundred bucks. M-25 is a little lighter than the Bernard, and probably overkill for the 211.
Reply:not much of a miller gun fan here. I have the Hobart 210 ironman, probably very close. I have the M10 gun, I got it pretty warm one time (under the max amps just over the gun duty cycle) and it is pretty loose fit in the handle now... it still works, but the next chance I get I will be ordering a tweco spray master gun, I have used them and never fried one yet.... don't let your supplier tell you it can't be done.... I did some research and tweco does make one with the miller M10 connection on it.... as for the Bernard gun I have no experience with them as there is nobody up my way that will deal them... heard they are nice though......TOOLS AND TOYSSMAW Mid States Inc. Reply:Look on ebay for a cheap 15ft mig. . . Make sure it uses Tweco consumables
Reply:So are tweco consumables the same as miller?
Reply:I would use the recommended MILLER. I don't thing the 15' length is gonna work. If it does at first it won't for long. The drive mechanism is not designed for a 15' length. I remember a similar post on the Miller site.
Reply:No, Tweco and Miller use different consumables.I would also vote for a Bernard Q gun.......so much so that my brand new M-25 is still in the zip ties and a Q gun is on my 252.

Reply:Oh it's going on a cart.  But I could still see the convenience of a 15' lead.  Take it apart, no, That's ok, I don't like fix things if they ain't broke, and if its broke I either fix it or make darn sure it is broke when I get done. LOL

Reply:I think he is saying that the wire drive has alot of weak parts in it?I have wished for 2 extra feet on an M-10 before. Some how I always get the job done!
Reply:If you HAD pulled the wire drive out and pulled it apart A) I would have been shocked and B) I would have felt like a real azz for suggesting you do.My point was that the wire drive(along with the rest of the machine) is built the best it can but also to meet a price point and that being the drive is engineered to live with a 10' gun that most home shop guys can work with. I hope this makes more sense.I like CenterFire because it does not use the crappy 32/34A insulator that Tweco style stuff does which after a while gets all sloppy and lets the nozzle wobble like Otis Campbell on Saturday night.
Reply:I kinda thought that but didn't want to *** ume.
