You guys most likely already know this.Using the 186 in 2T with a foot pedal the downslope function still works........although not like you would think. Letting off the pedal fast just lets the last amperage at the pedal last as long as the downslope is set for. To get full function of the pedal the downslope needs to be set to zero.
Reply:Is it possible that is causing the glitch ( delayed foot control ) others have talked about?
Reply:That's pretty much the same as your Invertig 221, aint it?  I know I never messed with the downslope since I use the pedal, so I always leave it at 0.1s which is the lowest it goes, so it is effectively no downslope time at only 1/10th of a second. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:After reading this I found that up-slope and down-slope both work on my Everlast 250EX on 2T with the foot control. I'll bet the down-slope is not turning all the way off on the 186, the 250EX acts just like the 186 when the down-slope is just barely on.
Reply:Rah,How do you feel the machine compares with the 185 overall?

Reply:The downslope works perfectly with a pedal, except if you dip the tungsten. If you manage to snuff the arc, the downslope kicks in after you escape the frozen puddle, not ideal. BTW, the 186 can be set to 0 downslope.SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A

Reply:I don't mind a bit of downslope and pedal, let's you dump the amps at the end of a weld without a crater or fisheye. Rahtreelimbs, sounds like your unit is broken.blah blah, actually have mine set at zero, you're right it's useless with pedal.SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A
Reply:It's the same class as the 185. Both were low priced high quality tig machines. The main difference between the 185,and 186 is the pedal interface. The 185 was more refined on the smoothness of the pedal. DC output it does not show up as a problem. You could feather the pedal better with the 185 on AC output. Just a flat out nicer tail-out of the arc. The 200 is more powerful, and you will notice it on .250 aluminum. The 185 is more responsive when you stomp the pedal on ac output. Ramps up faster. So not quite up to the level of the last model 185, but the arc quality is excellent when using high quality electrodes/ ground correctly. To tell you the truth, the tail-out issue is no different then any early 200 dynasty, and most people have no problem with that.(better IMO) Just have to be more careful, when letting off the pedal to avoid a little crater. Something you never noticed with the 185/300 arcmaster machines.Just swirl the torch a bit solves it.Modifying the 186  pedal does make it a real nice machine to use overall, but with a few issues above.. I preferred how my factory Esab SSC  Pedal, on my Esab 252 tig worked over most of these inverters. Just a perfect interface, and tail-out to nothing..Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i
