Hi All,I've tried to find a similar problem on the WW forum without any success...too many posts! My high idle doesn't kick up when using the 120 Volt outlet. It works fine when welding and the high idle switch also works but my grinders etc. do nothing. (It did work occasionally for a while then quit altogether.) Any thoughts? Hope it's not the circuit board!Rotavia
Reply:We use certain grinders with our welders that won't kick up the high idle either. It's the metabo that ramps up the rpms. All we do is strike an arc to bring up the idle then it will work. I hope this makes sense.Local 597 PipefittersCertified stick and tig pipe welderLincoln Ranger 305g - for saleMiller 185 migMiller Digital Elite
Reply:Thanks for the reply. My grinders....even mini grinders-always kicked up the high idle until just recently. Might have to take it in to the dealer!

Reply:Duane,You're the man with the answers...Pardon me for hi-jacking this thread for a moment. I have a 300D also, and frequently wish that the machine would not idle so fast. I'll be working, and before I can change rods and get set for the next pass the welder has idled down. Is there a way to adjust the delay that before the engine idle's down?Thanks...Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Reply:The high idle auxillary pickup "toroid" has failed. About a 15 minute fix at a repair shopAnswer to the quick to idle post, no that is a preset delay and cannot be adjusted
Reply:Thanks Cruizer, I was afraid that's what the answer would be.Again, apologies to all for hijacking the thread. Originally Posted by CruizerThe high idle auxillary pickup "toroid" has failed. Reply:Thanks for the info folks....I'll test the toroid and go thru the troubleshooting list soon as I have some down time!
Reply:I pressure washer my welder and that seemed to fix the problem! It wasn't that dirty either.....must have been a piece of grit on the circuit board or somewhere.......
Reply:. . .or pressure washing it caused a poor connection to be 'corrected'. You might want to go through and check all the connectors for corrosion and/or loose terminals if you haven't yet.Good to hear it's working again - hope it stays that way for you.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base! |
