I have an older 52" Enco 16GA stomp shear and now that I'm looking at starting a side business building CNC plasma tables I wanted to get a slightly better shear for my soon to be shop.  I didn't need anything too heavy and even this unit will shear 14GA or maybe a bit more in shorter lengths.  I found it online and paid a little over $2,600 shipped with good blades in perfect working order.  Out here in California, equipment deals don't come along very often it seems so the last few machines I've bought have came from back east.  I'm having them hold it for a few weeks until I start moving into my commercial space.  I like the fact it has a separate hydraulic power unit.  It's using a Lincoln Electric E1 "Hostile Duty" 3hp 3Ph motor for the hydraulics.  I might be able to make use of that pump for other things in the shop as well.Anyhow the shear is a 60" 16GA Niagara One Series machine.  It doesn't have the front or back gauges but honestly that's ok.  I'd fabricate something custom anyways that can be swung out of the way to save space so it's less for me to have shipped.Last edited by unixadm; 12-30-2011 at 09:10 PM.

Reply:Good score. Im in the market for a shear like that. the best deal i've found locally was 3000 (asking price) pexco hydraulic 52" 16 ga. how much was shipping? Do you have any leads on where i could find one? Haven't really looked anywhere but locally because i thought shipping would be insane. i was even thinking flying and renting a uhaul. but that probably would be too much.www.performancealuminumfabrication.com
Reply:Shipping for me was $979 to a local dock from Orlando, FL to Sacramento, CA.  I'm going to rent a hydraulic tilting trailer and have them sit the skid on two pallet jacks sideways so I can roll it into a 6x8 trailer.  I'll then lower it onto blocks and strap it down for transport.  I'm hoping I have a forklift by the time I get this in around 30 days but if not I'll think up a plan B.For me I don't think I could have found this locally for any less than $3,500.  It appears to be in very nice shape and came from CTS Corporation originally as part of their Microelectronics division.  So it was probably used for shearing things other than steel.
Reply:very nice, Seeing some of your work on cnczone and pirate4x4, you shouldn't have any trouble selling plasma tables..
Reply:Thanks.  Since I built my last table I have bought more equipment and am working on some details behind the scenes do so some general fabrication work and also CNC plasma tables.  I'm going to be most likely starting a build of a 5x10 Precision Plasma HD table once I move into my shop to do production cutting and will "refurb" my 4x4 table and sell it complete as a turnkey unit.  I'm going to go with the low side version so I can load sheet stock more easily with a forklift.  I'm picking up one or two new sheet metal brakes as well, one of which will most likely be a 16GA Baileigh Magnetic unit to build the operator center and water pans.I have much R&D work to do but it will be nice to get all of my equipment into one space.  We're building some little stands/carts on the side just to cover the overhead while we work on a good table design in four different sizes.
