I have a Lincoln Square wave 300.I picked it up for a good price with a note on it saying, "Power switch won't stay on."I wired for 220 volt housegold current. Selector in the mid range.Pressed power switch, and released unit turned on, digital display read 27 volts, 002 amps. Turned off immediately as I released the on button? The indicator lights also came on, for the following features.Gas and water,Arc Established,Crater fill.Huh I said.Well I pressed the power switch on again this time holding it down, probably not a good idea.Everything came on as before, and I adjusted the volt dial to see if it would change the voltage on the display. No joy. I released the power switch. Now I turned it on again holding the button down and I get no display, and the faint smell of a hot electrical component.Any thoughts, in depserate need of having this thing up and running, and I need to know where to start or at least how to test for the problem.Any help would be greatly appreaciated, Please!!!Thanks, I am new to this forum and Lincoln welders, but am a proffesional fabricator so I would appreacaite some honest incite. I have some big projects coming up and I need to get this thing running. For reference I had no torch, ground, pedal or gas hooked up. Just wired to the wall. Please repsond with some help thank you.
Reply:The best advice that I can give you is to call Lincoln and talk to a technician. They can tell you what to check faster than anyone. Wish I could help more.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Thanks for the reply, I have tried already a number of different phone numbers but can seem to find a good one for a service center for Lincoln, this is an older machine and does not have any numbers listed on the case. Any number you guys call that may help? I have gone to the website and all it lists is service centers.Does any one have a direct number to Lincoln?
Reply:Never mind found the service number, it is listed in an obscure place on the site. For reference it is 1-216-481-8100 Open 8 - 6 pm East time.Regardless, any help or suggestions with similar problems would be helpful.I am going to try Lincoln in the morning. Thanks Hammack, My parents are in GA, ATL area.Beautiful area down there sir.Take care.
Reply:Gonna start answering my own post for anybody else with a problem, might as well post something 'eah.Found a manual, Lincoln site.Followed diag steps, replaced Control circuit fuse, which did not look to be blown on initial inspection with another 0.5 amp. Pushed on button,Got the digital readout and status lights to come back on, but still welder turns off immediatly after I release the power button.I am not going to continue to hold down the button !!!! Duh. Sometimes I am amazed by my level of intelligence, or lack there of.So, following diag steps, I must assume that is a defective "Interlock PC Board." Per the Lincoln trouble shoot manual, looked up a part number in the Lincoln parts manual also availabel on their site, seems to go for around $75 or so through a couple PC board remanufacturers.I am going to pull the board for inspection, still call Lincoln in the morning and go from there.Any thoughts. |
