Info on 1990 SA200

This machine has 1985 hr. looks pretty good, paint not real bad. The only thing I dont like is it has alum. windings. It welds good smooth arc, course I am use to miller Bobcats and Trailblazer. Tell me if this is normal it use 1qt oil every 100hr. oil looks real good. Small front seal and rear seal leak not even a drip just has a film.  You think this machine is worth 3000.00. Reply:so it's 3 grand PLUS your 10hr Trailblazer. or straight up for your trailblazer? Sorry for being s-l-o-w, I just wanted to make sure I was reading your post correctly. I always say say when asked about price, "it's worth what someone is willing to pay". I know that doesn't help you.    If you're not crazy about the windings, hold out for a copper machine. Asfar as the windings go, people will argue that topic from now on. I've got a copper SA and like the way it performs, BUT with that said I've never used an aluminum machine. I'd love to have one to do alittle side by side testing.Hillbilly Fabworks

Well I would keep the trailblazer.  A trailblazer with 10 hrs on it in my opinion beats a machine with 1985hrs that you have no real idea on the history of it.  not to mention the warranty on your trailblazer and NO warranty on the SA...  Just my opinion, but I would not make that swap...I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:Well, it's not as simple as swapping welder for welder...  It depends on what you are going to be doing as well.  I recently bought an SA 200, but for what all I do I could not use it as a primary machine. One thing to consider is that the SA have NO AC auxillary power.  It's straight DC even out of the outlets.  So where as if you needed a generator like you can use your trailblazer for you will be out of luck with the SA200.  it also means the only tools you can power will be AC/DC tools.  if you are gonna be doing pipework where all you are gonna do is run stick and use grinders for the most part an SA is an Awesome machine, but in the repair side of things like I do I need the AC for tigging Aluminum, and I also use the CV output for a suitcase feeder.  And especially when the current goes out and I need to power the freezers etc in the house you won't have a problem like you will with an SA 200.  Just things to think about.   SA's have their place, but like I said earlier there is no way i would trade a trailblazer with 10 hrs and a warranty on it for a used SA with 2000 with none.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Yea I see your point, I have a 2006 Bobcat 225 that I will keep around it's been my back up welder and oniy has 500 hr. As far as a suitcase welder I wish I had one.
