I would like to buy a Plasma Cutter (I need one like I need a hole in my head) it would only be for "around the house" type projects and I wouldn't need it to cut anything thicker than 1/4" steel.  My problem is that I can't justify spending $1,000 +.  I'm looking at one on E-Bay but I've never used a plasma cutter and I don't really know anything about them.  There asking $329 shipped.  This unit runs on 110v or 220v.  Does not include a compressor but has all of the assessories needed to opperate + additional consumables. One thing I'm thinking about is the availability of additional consumables.  Are consumables universal ie. would Miller, Hobart etc. consumables fit? Your comments/suggestions are appreciated.
Reply:Bought a TD Cutmaster "true" series 42 yesterday.  DOA.You can't do worse than that for $329.A butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug

Reply:Hey Magnetic Mechanic,I find it amazing & amusing how so many initially blame the unit for a failure that was simply a failure of the purchaser to do "HOMEWORK". That "homework" also includes your doing a complete service check of the power requirements of the unit AND your personal work area power availability & insuring your wiring conditions will meet demands.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:Quit making sense, yorkiepap. It confuses people.
Reply:Haha, I have been on the other end of situations like this.Something comes back for repair under warranty, and there is nothing obviously wrong with it.Happens more often than you might think.Cheers,  Tony._________________________________Transmig 310 + Argoshield LightOxy acetyleneOxy propanePrehistoric stick welder_________________________________
