Have any of you guys ever used a cordless dremel?if so what do you thick of it? ThanksWELDER
Reply:I had one years ago and was unimpressed with the battery life. Corded is the only way for me with something like this, or air powered..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Same here, DSW. I thought a corded Dremel was weak 'til we got that one, LOL!!                                                           MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:I have 2 corded Dremels, a (Dremel & a Craftsman.) Basically for me they are just too weak to do anything. The one thing I do  use them for is carving out a hole in tile with a 1/4" tile bit when the tile guy doesn't cut the holes big enough for me to screw the electrical outlets into the boxes. Even then it is painfully slow. I can't imagine a cordless one, well maybe for Balsa wood or something. Now if you want to eat some metal up real quick, a die grinder with a good bit.......Miller Challenger 172Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC 225/150Miller Maxstar 150 STLVictor 100CVictor JourneymanOxweld OAHarris O/ASmith O/A little torchNo, that's not my car.

Reply:For 'craft' type stuff, they work OK when you need cordless. But they sure are not 'heavy duty'.Use the right tool for the job and all that.  Don't try to drive tacks with a 16 lb sledge hammer, and don't try to drive rebar into the ground with a tack hammer.  ps:  cordless Dremel with the sanding drum is a 'nice' tool to trim your dog's nails.  No cord to get tangled and such.  Use a light touch and don't just griiiiiind away (heat build-up factor).  The best laid schemes ... Reply:I use a corded Dremel and a Cman single speed. They are my "4" angle grinders".  I'm just a DIYer so they cover that duty.  For real HD or big stuff you do need to get a 4" angle grinder.OP, what sort of work did you need a cordless Dremel for?  Perhaps we can offer some suggestions?Lincoln AC225 and CartLincoln WeldPak HD and CartOne hand
Reply:I just got one for xmas. It's a dremel 9400? I think. It works great and I have used my dads a lot, but I must agree the battery life is not great.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:I've always been irritated by Dremels but the Proxxon equivalent hasn't got on my nerves too much yet.
