Been wanting to play with some 1/4 inch electrodes for a while. Picked up some off ebay all I can say is crap they will lay down some metal fast. I still need to get the hang of the 7024s never have run any before. I think I prefer running wire with a voltage sensing feeder over big electrodes for actual work though.  Hope everyone enjoys the video http://splashurl.com/mxsohqdLast edited by darlingtonfarm; 04-26-2014 at 09:10 AM.

Reply:Thanks, had some leftover paint think I'm going to replace it with a speedglass 9100fx soon. Love the sound of that welder running big rods not quite as cool as a short hood but still coolSent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk
Reply:Love those big electrodes, I just wish my little machine could handle them.  I can only go as large as 5/32" 7024's.  I was using them yesterday just for fun and realized that even a 5/32" 7024 is just too darn BIG for anything practical that I make.  The amount of molten metal and liquid slag (aka: "lava") with those 7024's is epic!   I can only imagine how those 7024's run with your big Lincoln SA-250 (or is it SA-200?). I would pay somebody to run a few 1/4" 7024's just for the hell of it!  I imagine that running those large electrodes would be like laying down soft-serve ice cream in a bowl!   Are you planing on making more videos with those 7024's by chance?   Thanks!Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller  625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita  Baileigh NRA Life Member

Reply:It's an SA250 sold my 200 a while ago ... Miss it. Never seen an SA400 that's gotta be heavy love to see a pic. Almost bought a SAE350 with a deutz a while ago. I'm still on the fence with 24s think dual shield wire is faster.Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk
Reply:I wonder what the hourly deposit rate for 7024 is? I can't seem to find it. For dual shield, sure no problem.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:I showed my wife you image of matching welder and helmet and she loved it. "Like matching purse and shoes". (Trust me,  it was a high complement) Regards,RobGreat Basin WeldingInstagramBlue weldersRed weldersMy luscious Table DIY TIG Torch cooler

Reply:it never occured to me to feed the rod with one hand and guide it with the other...i taught myself how to stick weld about 12 years ago, and have recently started doing it again. i enjoy it a lot! good tip! thanks!i still think tig is by far my favorite...but its the most expensive!
Reply:I talked to some guys building a water tank Asked if they were using wire ,they said no 1/4 rods that were like 24" long they were burning about 200# a day, each They had a huge machine  supplying I think 4 welders gxbxc
Reply:Wow.  I'd never even heard of 1/4" 6010 before...  That's a nice looking and sounding SA250.  I had a friend trying to trade me a SA400 for one of my SA200's, but I couldn't think of any need I had for that monstrosity...  I barely shoehorned my SA200 in my truck...You make good videos.  If I'm not mistaken, it was one of your videos I watch that helped me set the points on my SA200.  It had been a LONG time since I had worked on a mag, and my dad was still around then to show me what to do.-------------------------Chemetron AC/DC 300 HFSnap-On MM300L Lincoln SP140 Lincoln AC/DC 225g Lincoln SA200 Lincoln SA200 Miller Bobcat 225GVictor torchesH&M and Mathey beveling machinesMcElroy Plastic pipe fusion
Reply:Oh man I would love to get and old sae400 that's all dc and chop it down so it looks like a shor hood. Saw one a while ago on Craiglist. Been wanting one ever since. I love the 1/4s for big stuff. I keep a few on the truck for when  I want to speed things up or just impress a customer. I got a new video camera so should start putting up more welding videos soon.
Reply:Sooo want to chop one down like this
