Reply:Nope. Didn't tell me. I should have looked, but I thought it was 'okay'..I haven't used it in a month or so, so when I went to go use it, I was like  I bought a hundred dollars worth of consumables when I bought it last year, as I like having parts in stock for this very reason. Not a big deal to swap it out, but damn.. half of the dragtip is missing! Reply:Looks like a bunch of straight in piercing on materials thicker than it was designed for. I let friends use my plasma's (I have 4) but give them a little lesson on how to use it.....what it can and cannot do....before it leaves the shop! The drag shield on my powermax45 that I use mostly for hand cutting is almost 4 years old....still in good shape.Jim Colt

Reply:He has his own plasma.. a small HF unit I believe.. needed to borrow my 45 for something 'bigger'... Oh well.. at least it was just a few dollar shield..JimColt, that tip was just about 2 years old.. and it looked about new. The bevel on the edges of the tip that drags on the metal has been ground flat.. but was still 100% and looked fairly new still. Amazing piece of machinery, my PM45 is.. I love it to no end!I'd like to add, this is the same unit that was in the crash that totalled my 96 12v dodge.. my RKI toolbox folded with the bed, the top popped open, and the PM45 bounced out of the box onto the pavement.. the side is crushed in.. and it still works amazingly. It needed NOTHING to continue working after that crash. Reply:years ago the wife says her friends hubbie needs to borrow a chain saw...i loaned him a little mcculloch that ran real nice..when he brings it back the chain  obviously was used to dig a trench and it wont come close to start. turns out he put in straight gas. he comes over and is real obnoxious that i told my wife who told his wife..he says it wouldnt run so i had to waste my time adjusting the carburetor..i figure wtf he aint my friend, and the saw is trashed....i take the saw and slam it down into the hood of his car..he is shocked.. i said now you can adjust your hood too..true story..i dont loan tools..
Reply:One time when I was little(2 different meanings!) my dad borrowed Uncles chain saw to cut out little 6" tree for relatives. When we got done with the tree, He ran the saw into the ground at about a 45 degree angle to "cut off the stump.". I was too young to know, and my Dad is my Dad. He don't do mechanical things!

Reply:I only borrow equipment to those I know can and will replace it if broken. I WILL NOT lone out a chainsaw, truck, snowmobile but the plasma and hand tools I have let go in the past. Fortunately my friends are pretty good about taking care of or fixing stuff they borrow

Reply:If you have a little ranchita, first tool needed is a small to medium tractor. It is easy to ride your tractor over to a neighbors house, lift and hold his new  gate with the FL so they can hang it, or disc the 1/2 acre horse arena, then ride back home. It is not cheap or easy  to repair or replace the diesel engine or the tranny.   I go regularly, I charge nothing more than a coke. My tractor is older but still works fine.  My neighbors think I'm super helpful, well ok, but mostly I'm greedy. Reply:Well John, now you know! I have taken to simply giving things to family, I'll never see a loaned tool again anyway.  At work I loan almost anything. Among the technicians, we each have serious interest in quality tools, and most of our tools carry lifetime warranties. I never, NO, NEVER lend my Skilsaw. I use it, blow out the dust with compressed air afterward, then put it away in the case. No more bent base-plates that way. However, I borrowed pops chainsaw back from my brother a couple of weeks back (electric model Stihl). It is about 20 years old and he's had it since then. I put a new bar and chain on it to get it to cut, now it needs a new power cord and the oiler might need tlc, but I figure it is my turn to "borrow" this one, it will get put back into top shape again soon.  I was about to pull the trigger on a new gas powered saw...
