Guys, the last thing I need for my rebuild is a replacement muffler. There has been a straight pipe welded on it, and I really don't care if it is original as long as it fits under the hood and I have room to make the pipe go out of the hole. I'm not having much luck so far trying to adapt one. I'm gonna call stumpfs and Bill's on Monday, but thought some of you guys might know where I could get a universal that will work. Thanks for the help. ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:I was going to suggest calling Bills.
Reply:If it is an older model it came with a straight pipe. I have my muffler mounted on top of the hood going crosswise. It is supported with brackets and has a piece of flex pipe to take up vibration.I wouldn't put too much weight hanging off that manifold. The moment of inertia will break the manifold. If you do add weight, keep it as close to the manifold as possible. You might try looking in Tractor Supply. They have a lot of mufflers for equipment. Years ago I put a Cherry Bomb glass pack on one. It was a little tall so I had to enlarge the hole in the hood.Hey, What can I say, I was 20 years old and I thought it looked cool. Reply:Dang! I bet that thing was loud! I once had a F-250 extended cab dually with cherry bombs and duals. (460 engine), those were the first thing to come off when I got it home. WAY too load.
Reply:It used to be that most of the SA-200 welders had straight pipes on them. They had a nice bark when you struck an arc.Joewww.CummingsHauling.com
Reply:Pick a a muffler for a Super 55 Oliver tractor. Nice fit, light, and low profile (horizontal). |
