I am an auto mechanic and we are working on a customers welder. I have an idle kit from hybriweld for an SA 200 and i can not figure out where to mount the solenoid? There are predrilled holes and a bracket but they don't seem to fit anywhere? I called hybriweld to see if they had any further instructions besides the provided hand draw wire diagram but they were not usefull at all. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Reply:What year machine is yours? Is this idle kit made to be like an r57 idler? if it is then the solenoid is on the side of the generator, if its like my sa 200 with a 1977 electric idle system then the solenoid bolts to the engine by the magneto and governor. My vintage equipment 1957 Lincoln sa 2001980's Lincoln 225 AC1952 F-2 ford truck1957 F-250 ford truck
Reply:Found these photos, maybe they'll help? These are not my machines. The first one was a vacuum idle at one time, not sure if that's an electric uprade or what? The second one has an electric idle. Reply:Yeah that first picture is the weldmart kit which i found great instructions on how to install. And i think that second picture may be the kit i have and it looks like the linkage is moved to the other side so im gonna look into that. But im still not sure where the reed switch in the kit goes. I had someone tell me it hooks to the brass piece of twisted metal on the selector switch but i don't understand the concept. Anyone have any more info on the reed switch? Thanks again for your help.

Reply:If you own any year sa-200 one of the best resources out there for repair work is the Weldmart cd for Lincoln sa-200's. It's 100% free just visit the site and request it. I've loaded it onto my laptop, and don't go anywhere without it.
Reply:Ok so far i have figured everything out, but one thing. The pictures helped a lot. The two wires that go to the 120 receptecle and the one that goes to the exciter. I don't know enough about generators to know what wire the exciter is and i don't know if it matters what side of the receptece the other wire goes to. I tried searching everywhere as well as calling ppl and still no conclusion.
