My girlfriend told me we needed a new table for our house.  The house is pretty contemporary so I decided to build something with a steel base and a wooden top.  I started with 2" square tube and build the base in a weekend.  All raw, waxed steel:Used some CNC parts to make some feet:Then on to making the top.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:I chose to make the top from hardwood butcher block.  A mix of white oak and walnut.  1.5" thick with an additional 1.5" skirt that makes the too appear 3" think.  Finished with tongue oil.  Girlfriends happy, now I've got to build chairs.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Either taller chairs or stand up and eat! real nice frame ,like the feet. But don't stub you toe bare foot!!! did you make the table top from boards or premade  butcher block?
Reply:It's was butcher block made for a countertop.  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:OK so I guess we are posting tables that we made, so here is mine.Nick
Reply:ive seen those feet before, I'm flattered. Love the top/table.
Reply:It's actually a little taller than I had expected.  About 48".  I wanted bar height at around 46".  I changed my mind in the feet after I had built it.  Jimmy_pop,  those do look a lot like yours.  I actually borrowed the idea from a table I saw in the UK.  I wonder if it was yours?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Could be, I ship everywhere. First feet I did like that was '07. Did you use a threaded insert recessed in the wood top to bolt the frame to it? I plan to do some wood applications next year but will likely use something like this. http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/P...bly/142105.jpgJust looking for feedback.

Reply:Love the combination of white oak and walnut as well as the combination of wood and steel. Very nice work.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
