Another Welding Cart

I got a good start on my welding cart this weekend. It's a bit wider than I would like, but I wanted something wide enough to house two 9" diameter bottles. I don't have large bottles yet, but hope to some day so I may as well build for them. A more complex design would've allowed for slim machine shelves with a wider base for the bottles, but I decided to keep it simple.I didn't get many layout pics, but it's pretty straight forward. I used 1.25" x 14ga square for the main structure, then welded in some 3/4" square for the machines to rest on. That left a 1/2" lip all around to keep everything in place. Overall cart dims: 33" long, 20.5" wide (not including wheels), and 27.25" tall. Top shelf is angled up 10*. I'll let the pics say the rest.
Reply:I still need to cut some plate for my shelf pans and add some tube for cable holders and such, but it's operable right now. I also plan to add a removable third shelf above the top welder. Hoping to get to that next weekend. I've used the old Lincoln buzz box for years and just recently purchased the HH190. This was my first sizable project with the190 (the HH125 on the bottom shelf is a buddy's). I'm really digging the gas MIG. Reply:Looks nice, but I suspect you will be upgrading tires/casters at some point.
Reply:We'll see how they do once it's complete and fully loaded. The two front swivel casters are rated to 110lbs each (if memory serves me correctly), and the rear wheels are 6" diameter lawn mower wheels. They were super cheap and appear pretty robust. Time will tell. I haven't weighed it, but I'm guessing the cart itself weighs in around 30lbs right now.
Reply:Some further research shows that the wheels may indeed be drastically under rated for the final weight. I'm fairly certain these are the exact wheels I bought:http://www.menards.com/main/outdoors...69-c-10105.htm50lb weight rating. Whoops. I may be sourcing new wheels sooner than anticipated.

Reply:Thanks guys. I'll update the thread once I find some time to continue progress.I love my BuildPro. It speeds up production and accuracy even with simple builds like this one. I'll continue to run the smaller wheels/casters until I get the larger bottles, but I appreciate the link. That place has some hefty wheels for cheap!
Reply:Welp, the cart is pretty well complete. I built the removable top shelf, had my buddy cut me some plates, and added some hooks/posts for hanging cables and hoods. I just cleaned it up and sprayed it with clear. Quick, clean, and industrial. Perfect for the shop. Check it out!Last edited by Bray D; 09-28-2014 at 11:21 PM.
