Reply:I have a Metal Ace bench top model. I bought it off of Craig's List from some guy that was selling out due to economic reasons. Yes, you can build one as well and there are several places that will sell you the component parts if you lack the machining capabilities to make those your self . I've built a couple in the past and the frame is easy. The old cast units were not all that stiff compared to a well designed frame made from large section tubing. Reply:I built mine, really not that hard. I was 14 when I built it. The rollers are the only part you need any machining tools to build.

Reply:First time I learned these things exist was in old Road and Track magazines. They were looking around the Lotus factory in England and the article said the ~English Wheel~ was critical in creating the curves. Very kool toy.
