i have two sa 200, one is a 59 redface, other 72, my problem is my - and + are backwards, if i want to run reverse polarity i have to put my welding lead on the negative side, i have confermed this by hooking my tig rig up on the - side and it balled the tungstin meaning it is welding on the wrong polarity, my question is should i try flashing the exciter even though both machines weld, really stumped here, any advice would be welcomed thanks Dave pa northcentral pa gassfields
Reply:duaneb might have answered your question with his reponse to my post here:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=34092Near the middle of the thread he mentions that I flashed my negative brush with + and the polarity is reversed.
Reply:dave pa, You'll need to reflash the exciter by placing 12vdc (+) to the right exciter brush lead and (-) to the left lead. You will get a considerable spark so keep the flashing wires away from the brush lead stud threads. DON'T do this with the unit running or you'll create a backfeed short against the reversed output of the exciter. The first attempt may result in only demagnetizing the exciter fields and if so a second reflash will be necessary.Last edited by duaneb55; 09-17-2009 at 09:54 PM.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base! |
