I have a DeWalt chop saw and someone gave me a carbide tipped Diablo blade. I've been using it to cut angle iron and 1 1/2" square tubing. I noticed I'm getting burrs on the ends after making the cut. Any tips on how to prevent this from happening or do I just gotta use a file every time to smooth out the cuts?
Reply:what's the RPM of the chop saw, and are you sure that Diablo blade is for metal cutting?  Lots of carbide tipped blades out there...for wood. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:You better make sure your saw is also for cutting metal. The RPM is way different. A shattered saw blade is not anything to fool with if they are oversped.
Reply:It's 4000 RPM. I'm not so sure about the blade now... the guy who gave it to me said he used it to cut metal.
Reply:this is the saw i used for years and it is made to work with a carbide tipped metal bladehttps://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-...corded/6190-20note it operates at 1500 rpm. you are risking serious injury or death by using a cheap Chinese Diablo blade at 4000 rpm. stop it now. If you have a $100 chop saw, you cant use metal blades. And no one uses files to deburr tubing, get a flap disc for a 4.5" grinder. if you cant get the basic of basic tools and use them correctly, you should do something different.
Reply:I guess I'll put the abrasive wheel back on. Ah well, at least I didn't pay for the blade.
Reply:Abrasive Chop saws run 3000-5000 rpm, dry cut carbide steel saws are under 1500rpmTiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

Reply:Meh, I'm happy with my $99 Ironton saw from Northern.  It's just a backup for whenever the plasma decides to call it quits and throws in the towel. Actually, I have a cheapie Northern Tool 6" chop saw that does a lot of slicing.  The trick is to load it up with a 0.035" blade.  The less material to remove, the faster & easier any saw works.Last edited by Oscar; 12-23-2015 at 09:50 PM. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:I also bought this. I use it for cutting sheet metal. It cut through a 10 gauge sheet with ease and very easy to handle. I would've liked a corded version, but DeWalt doesn't make one. I already have a few 20v 5 amp batteries anyway. Bought the tool only, which is much cheaper than the milwaukee corded version. Plus, I'm a DeWalt fanboy. http://www.dewalt.com/tools/cordless...w-dcs373b.aspx

Reply:As far as the original question goes there is nothing you can do about burrs left after a cut with anything. That's just the way it is....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I live in Las Vegas. Where can I get a blade sharpened? Is a sharpened blade just as good as a new one? Can a person sharpen it himself?
Reply:Originally Posted by Jimmy_popvery trueI have a high dollar saw and it leaves a burr. eventhough its advertised as a machine finish. it is not, probably because it depends on the sharpness of the blade. I think it will leave a machine finish on .25 wall tube when set on the slowest speed, 22 rpm and a freshly sharpened blade. Even so, the end of the tube will be full of chips and coolant. Hardly a "ready to weld" cut. But I am mostly cutting 14ga as fast as possible with a semi sharp blade so there is a burr big enough that it wont sit base down on the welding table.
