I have an 83 sa 250 with the Perkins diesel all new motor gaskets and wiring all new. A guy wants to trade me his 91 sa 200 classic one. Would this be a fair deal for me considering I have the bigger diesel? Any info will help. 918 804 9082 any questions or comments will be appreciated!!!! Nick
Reply:Sounds like a personal thing to me. Lots of guys like the Classics. Lots of guys don't. Some have lots of problems, some don't. Why does he want to trade a newer machine for an older one. Does he just need more amps, or does he have one of the problem machines? The '83 SA 250 has aluminum shunt coils doesn't it? While the Classic is all copper wound. Some prefer the aluminum claiming it stacks LH better than copper. Most prefer the all copper. I would do some serious welding with the Classic before trading. The Classic is worth more on the open market, but if I liked the 250 as a better welder...Another aspect, fuel ain't going to get any cheaper. Which one uses the most fuel?
