I have a 20ft eager beaver Pintle trailer rated at 40k. The trailer needed some hitch repairs, and while doing the work, I realized it has a negative camber. It is a 2007 model so it's been used for a while now. I flipped it over, and put weight down on it and it straightened back out, untill the weight is removed. I've heated the bottom flange on trailers before to rearch them, but was thinking of running a bead down the center to arch it instead. I have seen some floats that have a weld down the center before, and we're arched. Just wondering if this would work. Thanks.
Reply:get the biggest diameter 7024 rod your machine can handle and run a bead down the center of the underside of the beam.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla

Reply:I arched a 48' boat transport trailer by flipping it over and running 1/4" 7018 down the center of the beams , matter of fact almost over done it.
Reply:Thanks for the quick responses. I'm going to go ahead and run a bead down the center of the beam. I've used the rosebud like CEP is suggesting before, but wanted to try the other method instead. I'll report back on how it went.
Reply:Well, it arched pretty good. I flipped it over with the trackhoe, then cleaned it up and ran a bead down the center. Before I started, it was bowed 1.5" the wrong way. After finishing, it bowed 2"the right way. I'm going to flip it back tomorrow. Ran 1/8" 6013 rods at 130 amps. I'll post up pics soon.
Reply:Any reason you didn't use a low hydrogen electrode? Not that I think hydrogen embrittlement should be an issue, but then again it might be. Regardless, I'm glad it worked!Sent from my dumb smartphoneTeach Ag Mech - Mike At Home:Lincoln Electric AC225Miller Challenger 172Gas AxeWork:eclectic bunch of 90's vintage blue boxes
