I'm new to fabrication. I don't own many tools for fabrication, adding as projects dictate.my latest project I want to do that requires bending steel square tubing in the 1/4" to 1/2" size.Anyone know of a bender that is capable of bending square tubing this small?thanks in advance.
Reply:Where are you finding 1/4 tube at?
Reply:Local hardware and farm supply stores. They have aluminum and steel.
Reply:just fyi.. solid bar is easy to bend, you can do it by hand . hollow tubing likes to kink and needs fancy machines. that said my harbor fart unit has 1/2" squar e dies, doesn't do too bad..
Reply:is it 1/4 solid or tube ive never seen square tube smaller than 1/2 inch350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:Sorry, I should have clarified better. The 1/4 is solid and 1/2" is tube. I think I can get away with using just 1/2" tube.Any ideas for a bender? I'm needing to make some 45 degree bends.
Reply:harbor freight..
Reply:I like this one the jdh239 built using the 1/2" square tube roller dies that you can buy from Harbor Freight.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ghlight=benderhttp://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:its coming back to me now.. i used the 1/2" hf dies from their roller in their bender ..sorry donthave pics..
Reply:You can bend 1/2" tube, 45 around a pipe in a vise if you don't get too small of a radius.
Reply:Like Bob said. What radius are you going for? 1/8" ? 3" Makes a big difference. A good low tech way, if the radii isn't two small is plywood. Cut a circle to a bit less than the radii you want and just bend it.200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:I will be doing 90° bends at the most. Thanks

Reply:As I think about it more, the radius does not matter for this project, as long as i get a 45 degree bend. I'm going to make all bends match any way.I'm looking at the hydraulic vs compact bender on harbor freights website. Looks like about $20 difference between the 2.
