Hi all -My HF band saw is being annoying.  I had a gift card to amazon so I picked this up:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_detailsThe cut off wheels through tons of sparks and smell and wear down, so I was hoping to find a nice quality metal cutting wheel that's not a cut off wheel.I saw makita has a nice saw that comes with a metal wheel but it was like 2x the price.  I don't mind paying good money for a good blade, I just don't know what to get.  I will be cutting mild square tubing (1", like .1" wall) for a project now, but I would like flexibility. Thanks,Jon
Reply:The more expensive saw runs at a much lower rpm and is designed specifically for the carbide metal blades. You cannot put the metal blade on the abrasive saw. If you put the metal blade on your abrasive saw it would wear/shear the teeth off in a hurry. Can you take the abrasive saw back and trade up to the better saw?http://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-6190...2052955&sr=1-1Understand that most of the inexpensive dry cut saws are designed to cut mild steel as they are still too fast for harder alloys. The abrasive saw will eventually cut most anything.
Reply:The abrasive saw runs at a no load speed of 3900. The blade saw runs at a speed of 1500. Putting a blade that is not designed for over 1800 rpm could cause catastrophic failure of the blade and possible serious injury. Dont put a blade on the abrasive saw very dangerous.
