I'm confused about this system, can you not adjust the voltage & wire speed at the suitcase feeder ? If so then whats the point of this pretty expensive setup ? http://www.millerwelds.com/products/...ocess/xmt_350/I.B.E.W Electrician and Damn Proud of It !!!! .Virtus Junxit Mors Non Separabit http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/
Reply:I don't think I've seen a VS suitcase feeder where you can adjust the voltage at the feeder before this. The only systems I've seen have been RC type suitcases where you need the extra 14 pin connector cable to change the output. Looks like this set up will allow you to make voltage changes at the VS feeder. Honestly not really sure the advantages over an RC Suitcase, other than I believe there's a limit on how far the remote cable can be run before you have issues.WCC Control communicates with WCC equipped SuitCase X-TREME wire feeder. Digital messages are passed between the WCC Control and feeder via the weld cable. WCC Control responds to the messages and sets the power source voltage command in the 14-pin connector.
Reply:Because the XMT 350 and 456 units aren't equipped with WCC to work direct connected to the 8 and 12 VS WCC suitcase feeders. The WCC Control converts the voltage control signal being sent thru the weld cables to one useable by the 14-pin input to the XMT machines.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:I think what he's talking about is why use this system instead of a cheaper RC suitcase. The answer is that you don't have to string the control cable out and you can go farther from the welder than a control cable can. Now does the average guy need the setup. Probably not though I must say that one less cable on the ground out in the field or even in the shop is nice. I think the setup is really geared towards things like ship building where they're liable to string long leads and snake them down through lots of small holes. In a case like that I can really see the benefit.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm
Reply:So I guess some how this things makes a multiplex signal of some kind over the weld cable ? So you can get a suitcase feeder that can control voltage and wire speed but the distance is limited ? I'm really considering one of these XMT machines used and want to know what the ideal setup is. I have used the xmt 304 in a welding class I took about 2yrs ago and really like it.I.B.E.W Electrician and Damn Proud of It !!!! .Virtus Junxit Mors Non Separabit http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/
