Can't wait till it gets here. due to availability of the welder I have to wait till the 18th or 19th for delivery.  While I have been looking through the 60 something page operators manual I downloaded off the net, I was still looking for more.  Are there setting in the programming for the type of shielding gas being ran.  Due to work schedule and everything, I am trying to make sure that I  get a good bottle mix for mild steel.  I have read about the miller 350 mpa certain mixes than others to help reduce spatter.  I appreciate any help and suggestions
Reply:As best I can remember, the Miller XMT 350MPa pulse program is made to work with 95/5 Ar/CO2 with mild steel.   My Millermatic 350P pulse program is made to work with 90/10 Ar/CO2 for mild steel.  Either machine can use either gas though with some adjusting of the arc length setting.   You might want to call Lincoln and ask them which gas they recommend with their C300 pulse program, if it's not mentioned in the manual.Without pulse, you can run any gas mix you want that will work well with mild steel wire.  75/25 is a good mix, as is 85/15.  Some folks like 90/10 or 92/8.  The lower the CO2 content, the cleaner the weld (less spatter), usually, but needs a big enough output machine to run with the lower CO2 mixes.  The lower CO2 mixes (15% and less) are also suitable for spray as well as short circuit transfer. Other mixes are for other purposes, for example 98/2 Ar/Oxy is a spray mix for mild steel and stainless.  There are also 3-gas mixes for stainless and of course pure argon for aluminum.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Stick with C-10 for steel pulse. The short-arc is very soft on the C-300, so C-25 is a good pick there. They have different pulse programs for O2 mixes. You are going to really like the Rapid arc setting! Be sure to make sure your machine has the latest programing. When you first turn the machine on, it will flash the # of the programming in the machine. Very easy to upgrade too. Remember, the Lincolns will pulse SS with short-arc  tri-mix. CO2 short-arc programming for steel is available too.
