Howdy, I have heard that the gas tank can not touch any metal. Has anyone heard of this? I can understand metal on metal rubbing and making a hole but wouldnt it need to be grounded at all? I have heard a tank can ignite from static. I want to make sure I dont blow myself up.Also, when I mount the machine, should I put rubber between the mount lugs and the bed? And then ground the machine to the bed? Just wondering if it will help with vibration and rattles.Thanks.WHAT DOES NOT KILL US, MAKES US STRONGER...http://www.myspace.com/painter22
Reply:My father had his machine bolted to the bed of his truck (30+ years) and never had a problem with rattles or vibrations, and by having it sit directly on the bed, I guess it was grounded. As for the gas tank I haven't heard anything about that, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to give you an answer.
Reply:Think old 5hp Briggs motors.  Metal gas tanks bolted straight to the block.  Some bolt the machine straight to the truck some use rubber isolators, more of a personal decision.  But you need to make sure your machine is grounded to the bed, bolting the machine down will take care of that.
