I want to get set up to be able to wire feed aluminum on the road. I have a hobart champ 16 with CV, is there a spool gun I can hook up to that? Not finding the answers Im looking for on the search yet....Not sure how you would control wire speed etc.. Ive only used spool guns on smaller migs.Miller ab/p 330Hobart champ 16Miller 140Lincoln Power Mig 255Lincoln SA-250
Reply:Miller and possibly others have spool guns that will work with your machine if you also have the matching controller. The consensus seems to be that the Miller 15a/30a is the best on the market. It looks like you would need a controller with a contactor like the WC115A with the contactor kit as you could then run controller off the 115v outlets on your machine. I have(but not for sale) a Spoolmate 185 with a SGA-100C. That type of combination would also work as bascically all it needs is to be supplied with CV output from a welding machine and 115v and the rest is self contained. Others may have better advice and there are aftermarket spoolguns that could be made to work I think.---Meltedmetal
Reply:hobart makes its own spool gun but its miller. they all work decent seems most lws have a good supply of consumables for the miller 30a so there easy to get parts for if you need something like drive rolls or tips.
Reply:Has anyone ever had any experience with the HTP RSG200MIL gun? It says its copy of the miller 3035. Cant find any reviews on it.Miller ab/p 330Hobart champ 16Miller 140Lincoln Power Mig 255Lincoln SA-250
Reply:I don't have any experience with the HTP but I think you would still have to get a controller like the Miller SGA100C to use it with your welder as your welder doesn't seem to have any connector for a remote feeder does it?---Meltedmetal
