Yep, I have read alot on here for looking into this, no luck.I have output at the 110 recepticle. But no power at the welding leads. Is there a separation for power or should I be troubleshooting connections?I tried flashing and there is a small ammount of magnitism there but very little. Do I need more DC power? Should I leave it hooked up longer? I did this off a 600 amp car battery. I dont get much spark flashing.I have replaced the reostat and unless I hooked the wires up backwards, It should be fine. Reply:Well, I cant figure it out. I have 58 volts at the leads and full 120 at the recepticle. No spark at all. I did an oams test on the blue and grey wires disconnected and across the two with 38. I havent had much luck at finding a wire diagram for this machine to see if a wire was hooked up wrong. (Someone had started to restore this machine befor me.) I can find ones with a pc board. Those show 4 small wires coming out of the generater and mine has 5. And one of them goes to the pos lead. Reply:troyboy,The 110v at the auxiliary receptical says the exciter armature and coils are doing their part and functioning properly. Now you need to check to see if that voltage is getting through the rheostat and to the main generator shunt coils - basically checking the condition and resistance of the rheostat (64ohms) and associated wiring. And you'll need to check the main shunt coils resistance (46ohms cold)and the condition of the main brushes and armature for dirty/tarnished commutator and armature resistance. Reply:I took the machine to a mechanic, He looked it over and could not find the problem. He said he thought it is probably a loose wire inside the generator.I was about to sell the machine back and take a loss on all the work I did to it.After hunting for a wire scematic for it with no luck, untill yesterday, (All the manuals show an electric idler and 4 wires coming out, mine has 5 or they dont show a diagram at all) I looked it over with a mirror and it just looked great. I had a hard time thinking it was fried.I found this and the wires were not hooked up on the machine as this diagram shows so I took a chance and to my surprise, It welds!I just thought Id get this up here for others to use.Credit to who ever drew this, thank you.I will get a better pic of the machine today and I hope I can get it on the truck.....
