I have looked through the welder cart thread and unless I have missed it I didn't see what I had in mind. I have a miller 225 thunderbolt and a hobo freight mig/flux machine. I was thinking of building a cart with the thunderbolt on the bottom and the wire machine on the top, and places for future gas bottles on the rear. I would like both machines to be tilted like seen in so many cart designs. My first concern is the amperage adjustment handle on the stick machine. I need to leave enough space to access it. I'm sure someone has already done something similar and would love to see some pictures if possible.ThanksBrianMiller Thunderbolt 225 AC/DCEverlast 255 EXT with water coolerH.F. 170 Mig/Flux welderKent 3h.p. 9x42 milling machineHome Built 2"x72" variable speed 2 h.p. belt grinderHome built 9" variable speed 2 h.p. disc grinder

Reply:With the controls being low on the case of the Thunderbolt, I think you would be better served to build something like "Kevin" above did, rather than putting it below. It will take up a little more space, put it will save you from bending over all the time to change settings.
Reply:Take a look at mine. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...1-211-CART-And  You could do something similar just make the top shelf large for the thunder bolt .Like mention and shown by Kevin, make it two machines wide. I would think about sizing the cart for what your next machine might be. Make it large enough to fit.It depends on your storage space too. Is wider ok or higher and narrow ?
Reply:Dude! I just went and found your cart thread and was going to post it! I'll do it anyway...+1 on a design like BD1's.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...1-211-CART-AndGravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Thanks guys!  I am liking bd1's cart for the compact size in width. My current shop is not that large and space saving is key. Seeing this and others have given me a few ideas. How much does a large Co2 tank weight?  Am thinking of putting the bottom shelf for the thunderbolt 225 on drawer slides.  For easier access to the crank handle.  I would use a  counter weight along with the tank for ballast. I may even add a third caster to the center of the shelf to prevent any chance of tipping.BrianMiller Thunderbolt 225 AC/DCEverlast 255 EXT with water coolerH.F. 170 Mig/Flux welderKent 3h.p. 9x42 milling machineHome Built 2"x72" variable speed 2 h.p. belt grinderHome built 9" variable speed 2 h.p. disc grinder
Reply:'' How much does a large Co2 tank weight? ''   A 125 is stated at 75 pounds, a 251 is 123 pounds. and a 330 is 143 pounds. https://www.google.com/search?q=weld...Y&ved=0CCQQsAQAs for my cart I made to to hold two tanks. If you only need one it can be narrower. Mine is normally moved on dirt or gravel and the wide 3'' channel base is heavy . When loaded it doesn't have any sway or is top heavy. I felt by keeping the rear wheels at the extreme rear gives more stability plus having the wheels extend beyond cart helps too. With cart empty it is hard to tip over. Small light weight carts are fine but mine goes rarely goes on concrete. The pneumatic tires help too.   If you go through my post '' Equilibrium's '' did a perfect job of duplicating with awesome build as you go photos.

Reply:Thanks a lot tekstar! What is the cart made of? Is that black pipe, or conduit? I really like the design! That is just about what I am looking for.BrianMiller Thunderbolt 225 AC/DCEverlast 255 EXT with water coolerH.F. 170 Mig/Flux welderKent 3h.p. 9x42 milling machineHome Built 2"x72" variable speed 2 h.p. belt grinderHome built 9" variable speed 2 h.p. disc grinder
Reply:I think a guy is better off with a single unit cart. I know space can be tight at times but I have two multi process carts and they are just a jumble or cables and cord and bottles. This is made worse by having multi process machines on said carts. After living with them for years I hope the end is near for them.
