I've been wanting a tig welder for a while to be able to do 1/4 aluminum. Is this a good one. I have no clue. It comes with a water cools torch. I do have a 200 amp single phase service to my shop if that matters. Pics to follow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:I don't think you can do alum with it without an HF unit. I have Craftsman 300 amp HF unit with air cooled torch for sale. $150, plus shipping. Reply:I'm pretty sure that machine has HF built in. Not sure if I have the right manual because I can't read the code but the one I have for a TIG 300/300 shows HF settings.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.

Reply:$1000 sounds fair to me, I'd try for cheaper, but only because I'm cheap. The cooler and torch are around $500 just for them.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:I'm concerned about parts and service for it. What I've been able to read omit says if the circuit board goes out it's done as it's obsolete. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Considering that the machine isn't really all that old you can generally find parts for it somewhere even if Lincoln no longer supports it.In the case of the Control PC Board for this particular one, you can still buy it from Welding Supply for $434 https://weldingsupply.com/cgi-bin/einstein.pl?PNUMroducts:1:UNDEF:AND:L6847-3That is not a bad deal for that welder with cooler.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:that is a heavy duty machine. with the cooler the price is not bad. If you have to power to run it go for it. Id try a little cheaper, but still hes not far off with the asking price. I have the 250 version... Its a good welder, nothing spectacular but it gets the job done.- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com

Reply:I posted about the HF unit from my phone. Could not see the pictures and didn't know the machine specifics. Good on you! Reply:Another here in agreement. If it works, use the obsolete parts route as a bargaining tool. Try for $800. Show him the cash when you say the price. It just looks different when the cash is out in view. Sometimes makes the offer harder to refuse. If it works fine, you're probably getting a machine that will give you years of service. ALL machines die eventually. If you get 10 years out of it at $80 a year, you're still good. Plus, you'll get $400 for the cooler and torch and $200 in copper scrap.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:It's a 95 model. No foot pedal or fingertip. He said he tigged very little just used it as stick. Said when he did tig he would just set the amps and run it as is. No bottle either. I'm not sure this is something I need to get into for my first tig machine. I like to power of it but not sure if it will be user friendly for some one who hasn't been trained. Reply:I think I'm gonna pass on it and just wait and save some more pennies. Get something a little more user friendly. Anyone interested I'll pass the info to you. I think it could be had for $900. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:Yes they do have HF. There is a switch for HF that you leave on for AC aluminum. I had the smaller version of that machine, the 250/250 TIG Stick. I'm sorry that I sold it, too. Those are excellent machines. The only drawback to the 300 model is that you will need a 100 amp breaker to run it at full capacity. On the other hand, you might never need all of the power. They have a very high duty cycle as well. My machine had both the gas and water solenoids and I ran it with a liquid cooled torch. Oh yeah, they are very heavy, too so moving it is a chore. Once in place, you can do some great welding with them.Miller Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200Liincoln AC-DC 225Victor O-A Set |
