Reply:Man, I gotta get me one of those Andrie welders! They look so awesome! *puke*A guy is trying to sell an old Lincoln locally, calling it a Hobart. Bad thing is, he has it painted up to look like a Hobart but on the closeup of the control panel shows it is an SA200. He only wants $250 for it but says it needs work "including a mag." I am assuming *cough* I know *cough* that means a magnet coil. I might call him in a couple of weeks and see if he sold it.
Reply:I like it! Probably the fleet color and logo.To me, it says: "Go ahead and try to steal this machine, one of Andrie's giants will be pummeling you in no time." Standardized loud color and logo is a good idea for a company that does lots of field work.Which would you rather hear:"Hey, has anyone seen SA-200 #17? It was out on the highway job last week."Or"Hey dispatch, I just spotted Andrie welder #17 hooked to an old pickup truck that's headed west at the 50 mile marker. Are they moving that for us?"Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 12-21-2009 at 06:50 PM.
Reply:Looks like a good outfit to me, a repaint might be in order though...? is it a SAM or a SAE? Oil fill from the top, a detroit? Come on, show us the front end!

Reply:My driptroit has a 2" or a 2.25" straight pipe, off of a welded steel manifold. One of these days, I am going to change it out to a cast iron manifold off of one of my other baby detroits, and have a 2.5" pipe. Not sure what they were thinking, straightpiped. I put a horizontal muffler on mine out of a thermoking reefer unit, just to ease the bite. Now if you are talking the oil fill pipe being too small.... If it was any other jimmy other than the 2-71 I would say it should have its own little bracket for a 5 gallon bucket, to siphon off of. But most of my little 2 cylinder friends dont leak enough oil to worry over during a 5 or 600 hour oil change. Worst one that I got leaks and burns maybe half a gallon in 500 hours. Not shabby for a two stroke..Last edited by cablecat; 12-21-2009 at 08:37 PM.
Reply:This machine is an sae-300 with the f 163 gas engine.
Reply:learnt somthin every day... I thought that all the continentals had oil fills on the side. hadnt seen one fill from the top. cc
Reply:I think what you are seeing in the radiator cap on the back top. All the oil fills I have seen on the continentals are on there right side.
Reply:Bite my tounge! I read to fast. Yes I do see that on the middle/side. Sorry! Not sure what it is I will try to find more pictures.
Reply:Looks to be a oil filler, wow. First time I have ever seen one up there myself. This is the only picture I can find for it. Saya its a 400 amp machine to. |
