I was looking on the Lincoln Electric website, and a lot of their prices they list for retail seem really high. Which model is their lowest priced 220v MIG?

Reply:thanks for all the info guys, i might trying looking for a clean used machine first. i'm just getting tired of trying to squeeze every last amp out of my 110v mig. I have a stick welder for heavy stuff, and I love using my little MIG on autobody sheet metal, but I'd like to be able to mig weld in between size material like 3/16" and 1/4" stuff.
Reply:This is somewhat of a common question. I don't want to sound like an a hole, but really, you can NOT go wrong by buying more than you need. Most certainly you will wish later that you had bought the bigger unit. You already know what it's like to have the 110v unit and want more. Imgaine the same scenario with the 180amp unit. If only I had 200amps....Anyways, to answer your question to the point, you will find that the model number ending in T will be a tapped output model. Those are usually cheaper than models ending with a C, which is Continuous adjustment. Both work great. I have had them both. The SP180T is the model you are looking for according to your question.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
Reply:I own a Powermig 180C, if you are wanting a unit to weld 1/4" with solid wire and shielding gas, you may want to consider looking at the Millermatic 180 or Hobart Handler 187 instead. The reason being, because with solid wire and shielding gas, the 180 amp Lincoln doesn't offer as much top end power as the Miller or Hobart units. Set up with .023 and C-25, and dialed in correctly, the PM180C produces a very good ( very soft) low end arc for thin ga auto sheet metal.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
