Old Grinder identify

I picked this up at a garage sale for next to nothing, replaced the belt, new cord, tested to make sure it works well and set it on the shelf for later. Today was later I was going to mount it and then I noticed this is a wierd grinder. It has two four bearings to ride a pipe ( I am sure doesn't fit angle or square stock ) and a front bearing to ride on a flat. It also has a adjustment off a hinge to raise and lower the wheel. At first I thought it might be some kind of a cheapo toolpost grinder for a lathe but its not that and the bearing don't match the angle on the lathe slides.I originally thought it was just a bench grinder set up for a 2x4 bench top but thats not right, its definately meant to ride a pipe, so what was its original purpose? I held off mounting until I could pick somebodies brain smarter on old stuff than me. Anyway here is pics:

Reply:" the grinder looks some what like a tool post grinder for a lath"Thats what I thought at first but the bearings are set up for round pipe not the bed of a lathe. The other reason I don't think its a lathe grinder is its set up backwards to run on a lathe. I am sure it was manufactured not custom, you would need to see the bottom plate(s) it wasn't a home made affair.That said I partially agree with you it was a part off of something bigger and set up to horizontally grind, its also pretty heavy so it would ride and not jump off the slide mechanisim.
Reply:A last note, when I rewired it, the wire was paper and hemp wrapped, which puts this pre late 50's since they haven't used that type of wire for years.And other than the GE motor label, no writting or labels of any kind.
