Boring Connecting Rods

I stuck this in Machines, Tools and cutting methods instead of projects because it's a method... with a machine!Anyway I was boring some welded connecting rods & things were going pretty good so I video'd it as well as some video of the tooling I'm using, speeds settings etc. It turned into 3 freaking parts for late night viewing!First up is the fun, boring welded holes from about 1.5" to 1.7490"-1.7495" in 3 passes, breaking chips, good surface footage and good enough finish. Not breaking chips when turning sucks... When boring it sucks worse! Next I discuss the setup and the weird geometry of my favorite boring bit weapons (has something to do with the breaking chips thing). I'm pretty chatty here, if I STFU I'd get more done.Last I talk more about tool geometry, how the tool can be set and how I set it and some other junk. Reply:I don't have a boring machine. But I bore on the lathe and knee mill a lot. These 3 vids are well made and pass along some hard learned knowable that I'm happy to have and put to use.Thanks for the Great vids.Scott
