Hey guys, i just picked up a Brand New Lincoln 255xt Powermig from a local Airgas retailer.I am having issues with it and I am wondering if maybe im doing something wrong. The issue is 30 seconds give or take into a weld the arc becomes unstable. It welds great until that happens. I set it according to the lincoln chart and i know it should at least hold an arc.Any suggestions. Thanks in advance. If you need more info let me know.
Reply:Figured it out, I am using .035 wire, but its some cheap wire that was on sale. Not the Lincoln wire. Added 10% to the Lincoln Chart numbers and no problems.Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
Reply:I have seen a few welder's that have had numerous feeding problems. Usually you can take the wire out and press your fingers on the wire as it feeds off the roll and you can actually feel how the wire twists and is not made straight. Another problem is inconsistancy. You can take a micrometer and run it along the wire and see how the wire is not all made the exact same. Buying Lincoln brand S-6 or L-56 from a LWS is the best way to fix a lot of feeding problems. You know what they say, you get what you pay for...
