Reply:Beds are a little higher than that now days. The last few years has seen a pretty good increase in the cost of the steel to make them. Five years ago I could still buy a bed for $900 but now they're higher than that though to be truthful I don't know exactly how much higher (I think in the $1200-$1400 range). Lots of brands around here most are made in oklahoma. Lately I've been impressed with the CM brand beds. Decent build without being so heavy you load the truck with just the bed. But more importantly I really like the wiring harness they use on them. Prewired with a nice heavy custom rubber coated harness.   Not as important in your area is the type of cross members used on the beds. The cheaper beds tend to use light gauge rectangular tubing instead of channel iron. In the long term these will rust out even around here.
