You can PM me with info or call Five4Zero EightTwentyEight 6OhFiftyThree. If I find one, I'll add a post saying I'm no longer looking. So if it's 2 years from now, and there's no post saying that, I'm still looking. SAM parts are hard to find.
Reply:have you tried contacting lincoln ? also try welder repair shops out of state. i have a lincoln sam 400 with a bedford 220 in it. i know its hard to find parts. also try ebay in the us and in the uk.
Reply:Thanks Brandon, and Lincoln does still sell the control new, although they only produce them every now and then. Sooner or later a used one will show up. I check all the normal places regularly.
Reply:A Cables Remote wont work ? I bought one for my SAE 300 two years ago and works good. Maybe the SAM 400 is different and wont work but still may be worth a call to be sure.
Reply:Lincweld, as I understand it the SAM series uses a different pot in the remote than the "other" SA and SAE series welders. But thanks for the suggestion. For now I have jumpered the proper 2 terminals and left the remote out of the equation. The PCB has a built-in resistor if you jumper the right 2 terminals (can't remember their numbers right off), which gives the same output as if the remote were turned almost all the way wide open. I do remember that it is NOT the two terminals that the remote hooks to - it's one of those and another.
Reply:Well shoot. that sucks. your SAM 400 imo, is about as sweet as they come as far as machine capabilities. That remote would make your deal that much sweeter tho. I see your equipment list is similar to what i run with. SA 200, Bobcat 250, SAE 300 and a F 550 to cart em all around on ! haha. Good luck with your search!
Reply:Hey tbone, try this place http://www.stumpfweldingsupplies.com/index.htmlXtremefab told me about them and they have "like new" remotes for my Commander for $100.00 Cheapest I have found them!!!"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Thanks y'all for the advice - esp. about Stumpf's. I've ordered some SA-200 stuff from them, but never thought to call and ask about a used remote for the SAM. In case anybody in the future is looking for a SAM-400 Portable Field Control (a.k.a. "remote"), it's Lincoln part number L4803.
Reply:A happy ending: I now have a remote from Stumpf's (thanks, Stickman). They made it using a used shell and the correct potentiometer inside, and a 100' cable. My cost was around $130. I hard-wired it in to be sure it'd work, and now I've made it removable with a 20A/250V receptacle mounted below the fuel tank by the weld output lugs. (Used the odd-size receptacle and plug to keep anyone from plugging the remote into a 110V receptacle by accident.) It all works like a charm. |
