We are due to receive our new mandrel bender shortly, Ercolina 030 with the mandrel attachment, digital plane of bend/distance indicator and stop table and a few die sets. I have several rotary draw machines and am very familiar with that style of bending, however I am totally green in the mandrel dept. Does anyone have an Erco machine with mandrel or have used one? Looking for any input and contacts that would be willing to answer questions. Others with experience in mandrel bending that would be willing to answer questions would also be greatly appreciated. Reply:I've worked on a few of them never ran one. They use a pulse counter to follow the moves. When you get it make sure you have the 0 reference point marked GOOD. It may look OK when it is new but think what it is going to look like after a few years of service. The only real complaint I have is the quality of their foot petals. We have replaced everyone of their's with a linemaster. I am probably overkiling it a but why have problems for a few hundred dollars.
Reply:Thanks for the input, Jeff. Is there a particular model # etc that you would recommend for the replacement pedal? Reply:Sorry I thought I replied to this earlier. I don't have a model number. I do not buy the ones with the plastic cover. I came from forging and metal stamping. Heavier duty is always better right? The plastic ones they sell last for about a year or 2. I would just look at www.linemaster.com |
