I have the chance to buy a used Lincoln Pro-Cut 55 Plasma cutter. I can't find out much info. I am assuming that this will run on 220V single phase power and an air compressor at about 60psi. Is this correct? Is this a good Plasma cutter?
Reply:My buddy kswelderman has one. I've borrowed it before and used it to cut 10 ga and 1/2" plate. Worked great! He's even got a story about it working under water if you ask him! lol! and as with any plasma, you'll want a two-stage compressor or it'll take all day long on the most menial of cutting tasksIn the field: '06 Ram 3500/Miller PP350 '14 F-350/Lincoln Classic 300DIn the shop: MM252, Hypertherm PM-85, White face MM200
Reply:dont do it! I had one and one of the boards went out! new one costed 1500 bucks they have a gel on there boards and services guy can fix them...
Reply:I have a pro cut 55. The consumables are expensive . IMHO I would like to purchase a hypertherm or intertherm as the tip is alot smaller and is a touch start, where the lincoln is like a cutting torch where you have to stay away from the work. The more you "accidentally" touch the tip the more it ruins it. Plus the drag cup is rather large and is hard to make a precise cut.
Reply:don't walk RUN! the pro-cut lines were horrible piles of junk. I bought a pro-cut 60 brand new and it was the biggest headache i ever owned. Finally i screamed loud enough my LWS actually gave me a full refund and i bought a new esab unit.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Agreed Dualie I traded off my Pro-Cut 20 (first plasma I ever bought), consumables were expensive and didn't last long, stupid cut button is on the bottom of the torch which put a sweet 3rd degree burn on my right knee, not to mention it was gutless on anything but sheet metal, bought an Esab PCM-750 and have no regrets about doing so.
Reply:I love the Lincoln's engine drives and wire feeders but i have been burned 3 times by lincolns "Newest and best technology"I refuse to buy anything advanced lincoln comes out with until a couple of years down the road they have proven to be reliable.Pro-cut 60, power wave 455 were monumental money sucks for me.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches. |
