My little 140 is having trouble feeding wire. It'll feed fine, then all of a sudden get stiff and stop. I actually have to pull the wire out with plyers while holding the trigger, and it has a groove cut into the wire.I'm guessing the cable is pinched somewhere.Do I need a new gun and cable?
Reply:Sometimes my little 140 the wire will jump behind the drive rolls and get tight and not feed. Check your tip then maybe the liner
Reply:Take the tip off and see how it feeds.
Reply:Tryed it, the sameIt'll work sometimes, and not work other times. If you feed wire from scratch, you can feel it get "tough" at a certain point in the cable. How hard is it to change a liner?
Reply:easy open the door and unscrew the thumb screw and pull the entire whip out, there might be a set screw to loosen to pull the liner out. Read the directions on cutting the new one to length and reinstall. Have you made sure your wire is in the drive roller groove when it gets hard. Mine jumps out of the groove and applies mass pressure on the wire
Reply:Ya, I checked, and triple checked everything today.

Reply:Put a new spool of wire on there this morning, and what do ya know, I had the wrong size feed roller in.I'm guessing it was stiff in the cable because it was distorting the size of the wire.Glad it didn't cost me anything but a bunch of wire.Last edited by brendonv; 02-05-2010 at 11:28 AM.
Reply:I sure felt it had something to do with your drive rolls cuz when somethings wrong there it just can't push it beyond very easy. Glad you solved your problem, but when you have to change a liner don't cut it long it'll be real hard to get your tip screwed in. |
