after i found an anvil and a portaband last week , i noticed some clamps for sale..13 for $50 said the ad..one old 36" bar clamp by hargraves co which closed in 1955..other is marked "ct co"..8 of the 10 c clamps are williams or billings..a three inch one had the swivel pad pop off, i think i'll weld an angle there for a small pipe holddown..one has a logo of the letters '"T" and "H" superimposed.even the new ones are jorgensons..throw in $ 20 for gas and i think i did good(there are 14 not 13)..the lady said "im surprised anyone wants them..isnt there a home depot near you?" Reply:If you're gonna use those for welding, spray liberal amounts of this stuff http://www.mbind.com/spatspat.html on the threads to protect them from spatter. It's great stuff, I swear by it."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I had an awesome weekend as well, 24" Diacro Finger brake, with a bunch of the fingers for 150$, I also got a bunch of machining tooling for super cheap, everything is either japanese Yuasa, or American, Suburban tools and Lufkin, I then found a Gorton 265-6 grinder for 75$, i think im gonna use it to sharpen drills, i may rework the tool holder to work for my needs. But never the less, a good find. Attached ImagesI forgot how to change this.
Reply:It was a couple weeks ago now, but I picked up a PlasmaCam with a Cutmaster 51 for less than you'd believe, from craig. I wasn't even looking for it, but I was fast enough to be the first guy with cash, out of several dozen callers. I did have to buy $20 in missing/broken springs ( and a computer to run it ), and am in the process of totally reorganizing my shop to make room for it... but it'll be worth it, to say the least.__David Hillman
Reply:congrats guys.. im heading out to meet a cl guy advertising some old blacksmith tongs ...

Reply:Good job! I used Craigslist for the first time this week, got a 150cf cylinder for $60. Calledup the airgas dealer and they wanted $265 for one. Took it today and traded it on a 300cf for another $60. Finally got a large tank and for a decent price I think.
Reply:it continues.. i went to a place yesterday that showed some handtools because there were some blacksmith tongs i wanted..chicken or egg, im starting to blacksmith and you need a pair to make a pair..guy shows me a tool box..as im looking through at the machinist clamps, he says "ill give you the box and contents for $20"..old solid kennedy box with a tray ..lots of neat little stuff, and then a box that says "dumore"..i knew who they were.. it is a "hobbyflex". a motor with a shaft and little dremel tools..i think its worth several hundred.... |
