--------------------------------------------------------------------------------A guy I work with gave it to me. He said he had another so didn't need it. Trying to find out who makes it. I can't see any castings on it other than the big #4 (jaw size) stamped on the side. I have seen the #4 stamped on Columbian vises in the past, but they have always said Columbian somewhere on the side. I didn't get a chance to take it apart to see if it had anything between the swivel and base. I really like it since it swivels 360 degrees. I am not a huge fan of the swivel style, but if it's gonna do it might as well go all the way around. Also like how the jaws are a little higher up. Biggest downfall is it only opens up 5". Looking obviously for who makes it, and when it was made. It's definitely pretty beefy considering its size. Weight is 32.2 lbs. Attached Images
Reply:I'd wager that it is from the Western Pacific circa 1980's, 1990's due to the metallic paint job and absence of manufacturer's marks.____________________Retro_shopLincoln V300 ProLincoln LN-25 w/ Tweco #4 gunCobramatic 150-003 w/ push-pull gunMiller Dynasty 200
Reply:I was at a auction today and bought a vice just like that one.As you said , there is no name on it.It appears to be a good heavy duty vice. You might want to try a Machinests forum an see if they have any info on this vice!
Reply:toomanytoyzz  -  I will second, 'retro shop's' origin and era.  I remember the same body in a 6, and vaguely an 8.   Opus

Reply:Thanks guys!!  I'll keep it as a back up.  I currently have a Wilton bullet (non-swivel) with 4" jaws, a goliath Rock Island over 24" with 6 1/2" jaws, and I'm going to pick up a Chas. Parker vise over the weekend for my welding table.  I'll mount the Jap vise to the small table.  Got the vise and the table for $70.One thing I really like about the one I was inquiring about is the 360 degree swivel capability.  I much rather prefer one that is non-swivel, but if its gonna swivel I want it all the way around.
