can i get a tig torch and use scratch start with a lincoln sa 200 or lincoln ac dc 225? if so can do both steel and aluminum sorry if this is a dumb quistion but my tig experience is rather limited and it has been 2 years since i have even touched a tig torch i usually weld mig and arc every day
Reply:You can do DC tig with a scratch start with either machine. Tozzi did a good post not long ago on his basic rig. That will take care of SS and steel.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ht=scratch+tigAlum is probably not an easy option. You need AC for most alum and need a HF box from what I understand. There was a post no long ago on this also. I think Aevald covered it pretty well.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...&highlight=tigLast edited by DSW; 03-17-2010 at 09:23 PM..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I use my sa 200 to do scratch start tig and it welds as smooth as any tig I've ever used. You cant do aluminum welding though without AC and high frequency. My vintage equipment 1957 Lincoln sa 2001980's Lincoln 225 AC1952 F-2 ford truck1957 F-250 ford truck
