What type of wire would you buy and where would you get it if you wanted to make creations for your yard or roof?  I want to tack up some quick holiday decorations like a few reindeer and a sleigh and zip tie lights to them.  I don't know what gauge wire to get or where to get a spool of it.  Suggestions?  It has to be free standing when completed.
Reply:1/4" or 5/16"  3/8" would be tuff to bend
Reply:Try Tractor supply or any farm type place like that and look for a big spool of 5/32" or maybe 1/8. Whatever suits your needs.I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:Ah welder mike ,your thinking #9 wire  , you can straighten it by tying it off and pulling it with the car.
Reply:Smallest I see at TSC is 14 gauge galvanized electric fence wire.  Price is fine, but I think it might be too flimsy.
Reply:1/4" rod in 20' lengths from local metal supplier. most bending is done by hand with a jig in vice. jig is a 4" length of 1" square tubing and two lengths of 3/8" rod  thought the tubing ,spaced with an opening between them of 5/16" to 3/8".   Go over to planet christmas  , forum called wireframes.  Lots more infro there.      Mike E .
Reply:great forum.  Thanks.  I'm finding out a lot over there already.
Reply:I used 1/4" rod when I made my Christmas star last year.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...Christmas-star
