I have a ThermalArc 186 welder.   Came as a package (link) with the  W4014700 cart.    It's a pretty lightweight cart,  especially with a large 7-1/2" tank.I just bought a HTP Welding water cooler and now need a larger cart.   Obviously I'm aware I can make my own but I have no scrap steel at present,  so I'd be buying all the materials.  I also have a ton of other projects.I'm curious if anyone has the Westward 2WDP9 cart.    I believe Westward is the Grainger house brand (Grainger owns Zoro).   There is a 15% off $150+ Zoro coupon fairly often which would put the cart down around $130 shipped. Are there any other good options in pre-built sturdy 3 tier carts?  I'd like a 3rd level to store accessories.    HTP sells a cart, a similar design to the Westward except the 2nd level doesn't seem as deep as the Westward (compare the positions of the upper chain holes).Comments/suggestions?Last edited by crazybrit; 12-27-2015 at 12:40 PM.
Reply:I ended up buying this.   I found the spec sheet on the Grainger (Zoro's parent company webpage),  labelled Deluxe Welding cart.It turns out it is exactly the same as the Harbor Freight welding cart, which is anything but deluxe for $100 more than Harbor Freight charges,  even more when you consider the HF cart is always on sale plus the 20% coupon.   if you want a $50 quality cart, get the HF but don't pay Grainger/Zoro $100 more for the same thing. In my case it arrived damaged with parts missing,  double whammy, so I sent it back for a full refund.
Reply:We just bought some flat carts and drywall carts from Grainger. Man. has their quality gone down the tubes. But their price is as high as ever. I wish I would have seen this thread before, I would have told you that Westward is a high priced HF. But, we just got these carts Monday, so hopefully you already had this before then. The drywall carts were made in USA, and look at these $hit welds. DISGUSTING! You really have to shop, anymore, because the good old companies are just not the same."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Yeah,I was in a similar situation recently, and upgraded to a cart from Northern Tool, which I was impressed with its quality and value. And I was impressed enough that I uploaded a video to my YouTube channel showing how easy it was to modify. I liked it enough, that even if I ever get a water cooler, I'll just put some louvered vent panels on it or frame in some expanded metal for air circulation. But the one I got was a cabinet-style, which isn't really an off-the-shelf solution for a water cooler set-up.Otherwise, take a look at that one for $89 that Northern Tool sells (even though it's not a Northern Industrial labeled one), with the bottom storage drawer. The HTP water cooler is reportedly 17-3/4" wide, so it will probably fit into the the 18-3/4" reported width of the cart, although some slight modification could actually be required. The cart I got is also pictured at $219.Please let us all hear what you get and how well it works out for you.Last edited by C. Livingstone; 02-06-2016 at 11:10 AM.
