Will someone please look inside their thunderbolt and tell me if it is wound with copper wire. I was told the only difference between a thunderbolt and stickmate is the thunderbolt has copper wire and the stickmate has aluminum wire.Any help is appreciated, thanks
Reply:I'm pretty sure either of these made in the last 10 years or so are aluminum. I had a very old Thunderbolt that had copper, but I'm talking about the old style with crank on top. I had another old style Thunderbolt that was aluminum. I think my current T'bolt (new style) is aluminum. It works great though. I mostly use for scratch-start TIG.Maybe someone else has a more detailed answer.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com
Reply:My 1968 T-bolt is all aluminum windings. Makes no difference in the real world. This issue has been beaten to death many times over- use the SEARCH function if you want some light reading. JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:I know this is an old thread but I just picked up a Stickmate (AC/DC) LX from 2003 and it's all copper. Gave $300for it was barely used and he threw in a couple LBs of rods. I think I got a fair deal.. |
