I have a Lincoln pro mig 135 110V welder that is approximately 10 years old.  The wire won't feed fast enough to keep a puddle running.  Yes I tried turning the speed up but it still doesn't work.It looks as though the wire is slipping where it goes through the drive wheel so I tried adjusting the tension on the idler wheel. There is NOT excessive tension or drag on the wire spool.I tried cleaning everything. Even though there did not appear to be anything wrong with the drive wheel, I bought a new one and just put it on but it still does not feed properly.Any thoughts on whats wrong?  Am I possibly looking in the wrong place?  Very frustrating, please help. Thanks, Nate
Reply:Right size drive wheel for the wire, liner ok and not kinked, contact tube clean and no spatter ?, ....Mike
Reply:The wheel looks identical to the old one except that the larger side is crimped which is not the side that I am using anyway.  I am using .30 wire and using the small sized rib on the wheel same as I have since I bought the welde new. Doesn't appear to have any kinks or excessive drag in the line anywhere.
Reply:When is the last time you changed your liner?FelonCaution lurker lives here" hmmm That is serious, pass the ganja and pick up a  24 of MGD"
Reply:Try removing the gun/liner assembly, removing the contact tip, and running compressed air back thru the liner in the direction of the welder end.  You'd be amazed at the stuff that comes out"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:THANKS a million for all the help.  I took the thing apart AGAIN and this time found a short piece about 1 1/2" long of the coiled tubing that is inserted in the plastic before the drive wheel.  It was clogged and causing drag.  I cleaned it with some carb cleaner and a guitar string and it works just like again.BTW QUICK CLEANING TIP OF THE DAY. Guitar strings are ribbed as they have a winding on them and resemble torch cleaners but are longer and come in a variety of sizes.  I change both my acoustic and electric strings monthly so I keep the old strings around in the shop.  They are great for cleaning small holes.  You can cut one a few inches, put a J hook in the end and put that in your cordless drill and it makes kinda like a mini roto-rooter. Thanks for al the suggestions.Have a Blessed Day.Later, Nate
