What am I looking for in a pump for a tig water cooler??? Specifically pressure and gallons per minute.
Reply:I think you're looking for something @65psi with a flow, thru the torch, about 1ltr min (at least that's what my Miller does on my CK torch. The only one I measured....)
Reply:Volumn through a tig torch is about 1 to 1.5 quarts per minute for me. Procon pumps have pressure adjusters and from memory the upper limit for tig torches is 55psi. The recommended from what I remember is 35psi. Again flow rate through any given torch is 1 to 1.5 quarts per minute. The pump should be adjusted per specific torch application. I had a horrible time with my Miller Coolmate 3 which the pressure and flow was so high it tripped the themal overload switch mid weld frying power cable. Until I did a rebuild and flow test did I find the problem. You should be able to find used pumps coupled to motors on Ebay.Last edited by shovelon; 11-06-2014 at 07:28 PM.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:When you have it wired up and ready to test, make sure you prime the pump with coolant at the screen port, and do not under any circumstances let it run dry. If it does not pick up fluid right off stop the motor and prime again. It may take a couple of trys but just don't let it run dry.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea. |
